Friday, August 21, 2026, 3-6 p.m. at Pinnacle Wine & Liquor, 1720 Monroe Ave in Brighton, New York. Meet the Maker: Emily Doi, producer of E. Keiko Doi Sake. Emily has been the assistant winemaker at Glenora Wine Cellar for a few years, so you may already know her from there. Her dad is Japanese and she’s been to Japan a few times to visit family, which lit a fire in her to also make a sake of her own here at home, right in the Finger Lakes, as a side project. A few weeks ago, she released her first batch, and you’ll be glad to taste it, I promise; she hit a home run her first time at bat!

I’ll be at the table with Emily, too, offering samples of Kirinzan Classic, Lucky Dog (don’t be fooled by the capricious name and package—it’s excellent!), and the delicious Zaku Ho no Tomo (Junmai the Artisan), and Mii no Kotobuki Hojo Biden (Pastoral Beauty).
